From the Association ~ President Walt D’Alessandris
From the Association ~ President Walt D’Alessandris
The Association Board wishes everyone a Happy and Blessed New Year.
The New Year’s Party was enjoyed by all and a special thanks goes to Lainie Powers for the outstanding “Feed,” that she provided as our in-house “Chef Extraordinaire!” Also thanks to our Canada States Committee for serving the food and a superb job of clean-up after the dance.
The first show of the 2016 year, “Flashback Four” was a great hit that gave us a sold-out event.
I want to thank all the wonderful people that helped set chairs, erect the stage, and then returned early the next morning to set the Clubhouse back to standard. We had a large group of volunteers who made short order of the job. A special “Thank You” to Fred Sherwood’s lovely granddaughter, Maddie, who chipped in and did a super job of keep up with the “Guys!”
The four entertainment events for February are expected to be “sell-outs!” Get your tickets early, because if you find yourself without tickets, “it ain’t gonna be my fault!”
The poker players should be happy with the two new poker tables that have arrived. A card of thanks will be sent to Scott Rickert for granting this request, and for buying quality tables far beyond our expectations!
Glenda Gray will be acting on my behalf while I am away, and I hope everyone will give her the same cooperation that I receive.
So, until next time, don’t forget to do something nice for your neighbor.
From the Corporation ~ President John Gates
The Annual Meeting for the Corporation was held on January 19, 2016, with 35 members attending. The main item of business was the election of the 2016 Board of Directors. Elected Directors include: Sharon LaPenna: 3 years, Secretary; Bob Herwarth: 1 year, Vice President; Kay Soares: 2 years, Membership Director; Nick Paradiso: 3 years, Member-at-Large. Bob Bonner was appointed to the Board at the Meeting.
“Blitz”: A team of volunteers went door-to-door in early January to sell memberships. The blitz was a great success as we increased our membership from 79 to 159. Thanks to all who continue to support your Corporation. Thanks, as well, to the volunteers: Jim Frye, Kay Soares, Glenda Gray, Nancy Morley, Judy Gates, Nick Paradiso, Karen Locke, Walt D’Alessandris, Bob Bonner, Bob Banyard, Sharon LaPenna, Kurt Hambrecht, and John Gates. A job well done! If we missed you, no problem. Contact any member of the Board of Directors.
Board Business: The Board has discussed the 2016 budget and, given two choices by the revised Florida Statute 723, has opted to have the budget ratified by the membership at the next regular members meeting. As well, the Board continues to work on updating its By-laws to bring them in line with those revised statutes. The 2016 Nominating Committee must be appointed at the next membership meeting. Two volunteers are needed to work with one Board Member on this committee.
1. Members: Notice is hereby given that a Membership Meeting of the Sebring Village Corporation will be held at 7:30 p.m., in the Clubhouse, on Tuesday, March 15, 2016.
2. Board of Directors: Notice is hereby given that the next two meetings of the Sebring Village Corporation Board of Directors will be held in the Clubhouse, at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, and at 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday, March 9, 2016.
A Final Word: The new Board looks forward to serving your interests over the next year. Be sure to check for updates on our website (SebringVillage.org) or the Bulletin Board in the Clubhouse near the ladies restroom. In closing, the Board wishes to thank all who served on the Board in 2015: Gary Angell, Jerry Diehkoff, Mike Hord, Amy Slane, Tolson Stockwood, and Larry Whitehead.
Message from Maureen ~ Park Manager Maureen Stephens
Hope everyone had a good holiday. It certainly was beautiful in here. Nice job everyone. Many of the people who visited commented on all the hard work our residents do. They can only imagine, right? As I am typing this, we are waiting for our new poker tables to arrive. I guess quality takes time! By now you have received the “Reminder” about our push to get this Park back in shape. For those of you who always take such pride in your place and keep it in pristine condition, I am certainly not directing my comments to you. THANK YOU.
Please read the notice and take care of cleaning your house, roof, driveway, and skirting. It was a very wet summer and is still wet. I know that some of you who just power washed your home this summer already have mold growing. Weeds and bushes also love this weather. Please trim bushes back and get them off your house and below your windowsills. There are people in the park you can hire to help you if you need it. We will gladly supply names and phone numbers if you call. Take the time to enjoy all the activities the Association and others have made available. See you around the Park.
Residents’ Appreciation Luncheon ~ Maureen
There will be a Residents’ Appreciation Luncheon at the Clubhouse on February 16th, at noon.
The luncheon will include meat, two sides, cake, and beverages, all of which will be provided absolutely free by the Sebring Village Park Owners. Sebring Village Photo Album and Directory ~ Laurel Babb
A reminder to residents who have signed up for photos — Remember your date and time.
The photographers will be here from February 23-27th.
We would really like to have every resident participate in having their photo taken by this service, whether you want a photo or not, whether you want to buy additional photos or not. We are really hoping to have EVERY RESIDENT’s photo in our book.
Residents will be able to select a picture for the directory and receive a FREE 8 x 10-inch portrait for themselves, plus a copy of the Sebring Village Photo Directory, at no charge to you whatsoever.
We will need volunteers to help on the days of the photo shoots; if you can spare a couple of hours on any day of the photo sessions, it would be so appreciated.
If you have not signed up for this event, there is still time to register for your sitting.
For your convenience, you will be able to view your portraits within minutes of having them taken. There will be NO OBLIGATION to buy any pictures… however, you will have the opportunity to order portraits for your families if you like. There will be no pressure for you to make a purchase. However, please bring your credit card, cash, or checkbook if you plan to buy additional pictures.
If you have questions or may be willing to help, contact Laurel Babb, (Chairperson), 863-314-6504.

Thank you for all the well wishes and the lovely cards and hospital visits from so many of our friends and neighbors here in Sebring Village. We appreciate you all so very much. Mom is doing much better and will probably be home when you read this. She had a serious lung infection and, thank goodness, it is all cleared up. Her main concern was that she was unable to play Bean Bag Baseball. Thank you all for taking it over for me. Stop in anytime and pay her a visit. (She just loves company.)
Thank You ~ Leslie Maschue
I wish to thank all my friends, family, and neighbors who have been so kind to me during my recent knee replacement surgery, and my ongoing recovery and rehab. It is impossible to name each of you individually. There are those who have given me rides, those who have cooked for me, those who have visited me, those who sent cards, those with well wishes and prayers. Thanks to you, my recovery is going very well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
